More Than a Weekend

Some weekends remind us why community matters.
This was one of them.
The celebrations began on Friday evening as members of Naturism Wales travelled to Manchester to take part in the World Naked Bike Ride. For some, it was their first experience of the event. For others, it was an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and enjoy one of the most positive and uplifting events on the naturist calendar.
As the ride came to an end and the celebrations continued, conversations naturally turned to the weekend ahead.
The following day, members from across Wales gathered in Welshpool to celebrate a milestone birthday for one of our own. Friends travelled from different corners of the country, bringing smiles, stories and a genuine desire to celebrate someone who has become an important part of our community.
The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming and full of laughter. It was a reminder that some of the most meaningful celebrations are those shared with people who genuinely care about one another.

Throughout the weekend there were campfires, coffee, good food and countless conversations. New friendships were formed. Existing friendships grew stronger. Stories were shared beneath open skies as people relaxed and enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending time together.
Looking around, it was impossible not to notice something special.
People from different backgrounds, different professions, different ages and different parts of Wales sitting together as equals. No pressure. No expectations. No need to be anything other than yourself.
Just people being themselves.
It is easy to think that community is built through websites, social media pages or organised events. The truth is that community is built through moments like these.
A shared coffee in the morning sunshine.
A chair pulled closer to a campfire.
A smile offered to someone you’ve only just met.
A conversation that turns a stranger into a friend.
These are the moments that create belonging.
They are the moments people remember long after the weekend has ended.

Weekends like this do not happen by accident.
They happen because people are willing to share their time, their friendship and their kindness with others. They happen because individuals open their hearts and create spaces where people feel welcomed, valued and accepted.
That spirit of generosity is one of the things that makes our community so special.
This weekend reminded us that naturism is not simply about what we wear—or don’t wear. It is about creating spaces where people feel comfortable being themselves. It is about friendship. It is about kindness. It is about laughter, acceptance and the simple joy of human connection.
As one wonderful weekend draws to a close, another is already approaching.

Next weekend we come together once again for our Summer Solstice Weekend, celebrating the longest day of the year surrounded by nature, friendship and community spirit. If this weekend reminded us of anything, it is that some of life’s most memorable moments begin with a simple decision to come along and join in.
Whether you have been part of our community for years or are considering attending your very first event, you will find a warm welcome waiting for you.
There will be laughter around the campfire.
Coffee shared between friends.
Stories exchanged beneath summer skies.
And perhaps, by the time the weekend is over, a few new friendships too.
Because that is what community is all about.
