A Positive Step Forward for Naturism in Wales

It is encouraging to know that when we raise important questions on behalf of our community, there are people in positions of responsibility who are prepared to listen.
Over recent weeks, Naturism Wales has written to several public authorities and political representatives seeking clarity following the Cox v DPP appeal judgment, particularly concerning policing, legal certainty and the responsible practice of naturism.
We are pleased to have received constructive and positive correspondence from North Wales Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the First Minister of Wales, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS.
We are particularly grateful to the First Minister for acknowledging the issues raised and offering to share our correspondence with fellow Senedd Members and his office to explore these matters further and seek clarification where appropriate.
Naturism Wales has never sought special privileges. Our position is simply that responsible, lawful naturism deserves to be understood, respected and approached with fairness and consistency.
We recognise that public nudity can raise legitimate questions about circumstances, consideration for others and the application of the law. That is precisely why clear, proportionate guidance is so important, both for naturists and those responsible for policing our communities.
These responses do not represent a change in legislation or policy, and further discussions may be necessary. Nevertheless, they provide a welcome opportunity for constructive engagement.
Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has taken the time to respond, consider our concerns and engage with Naturism Wales respectfully.
Progress is not always measured by immediate results. Sometimes it begins with a willingness to listen, ask questions and work towards a better understanding.
We look forward to continuing that dialogue in a positive and cooperative spirit.
At Naturism Wales, we believe that Every Body Matters, and that includes ensuring our community has a voice in the conversations that affect us.
What would clearer, more consistent guidance on lawful naturism mean to you and your confidence in enjoying our way of life?
