May the Freedom Be With You: How We Celebrated #MayThe4th, Naturist Style

There’s something about Star Wars Day that invites a bit of fun into the everyday. It’s light-hearted, a little nostalgic, and—if you let it—an excuse to not take life too seriously for a moment. And that’s exactly what unfolded when our community gathered in Cardiff to mark #MayThe4th in our own way.

This wasn’t about costumes or conventions. There were no queues, no crowds, no pressure to perform. Just people—friends, new faces, and familiar ones—coming together in a space where everyone is equal, relaxed, and free to simply be.

From the moment people arrived, there was a quiet buzz in the air. Conversations picked up where they’d left off, laughter came easily, and the tone was set almost immediately: this was going to be one of those days where everything just flows.

Of course, it didn’t take long before the banter began.

Someone jokingly greeted the group with a cheerful “May the fourth be with you,” followed quickly by a reply from across the space, “And also with you,” which set off a ripple of laughter. It carried on like that throughout the day—little nods to Star Wars woven naturally into conversation, never forced, just part of the shared humour of the moment.

What stood out most wasn’t the theme itself, but how effortlessly it blended into the atmosphere we already value. There was no need to dress up or play a role. In many ways, it felt more fitting than any costume could—because at its heart, the day became about connection, presence, and a kind of freedom that doesn’t need embellishment.

People spent time chatting over drinks, sharing stories, and enjoying that rare thing in modern life: genuine, unfiltered company. Some sat quietly in the sun, others gathered in small groups, and a few couldn’t resist stretching the joke a little further—debating, with mock seriousness, whether the “force” might simply be the feeling of complete ease you get when you’re truly comfortable in your own skin.

And maybe, in a way, that’s not far off.

Because what days like this remind us is that freedom isn’t something dramatic or distant. It’s found in simple moments—laughing with others, feeling accepted without question, and enjoying life without layers, both literal and otherwise.

As the day drifted on, there was no big finale, no grand ending. Just a gradual winding down, people lingering a little longer than planned, not quite ready to leave the atmosphere behind. Goodbyes were warm, with the usual “see you soon” that you know isn’t just polite—it’s genuine.

#MayThe4th came and went, as it does every year. But for those who shared it together in Cardiff, it wasn’t about marking a date on the calendar. It was about the experience itself—the laughter, the ease, the sense of belonging.

And if there’s one thing we took away from it, it’s this:

You don’t need a galaxy far, far away to find something meaningful.

Sometimes, it’s right here—shared between good people, in a moment that asks nothing of you except to enjoy it.

May the freedom be with you. 🌿
