Every year on March 7th, people across the UK and beyond celebrate Plant Power Day, a movement that encourages individuals to place plants at the heart of their meals and daily choices. Launched in 2018 by the plant-based food company Alpro in collaboration with the vegan recipe creators BOSH!, the day invites everyone to explore how simple, plant-forward choices can support both personal wellbeing and a healthier planet.

For the naturist community in Wales, this idea feels naturally aligned with the philosophy we already embrace.

Living Naturally, Inside and Out

Naturism is about more than simply removing clothing. It’s about reconnecting with nature, appreciating our bodies as they are, and making mindful choices that respect ourselves, others, and the environment. Many naturists find that once they begin living closer to nature, other lifestyle choices begin to reflect the same values — including what we eat.

Plant Power Day offers a gentle reminder that nourishing our bodies with more plant-based foods is one more way to live in harmony with the natural world.

Fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and legumes provide vibrant nutrition and energy — the kind that helps us feel good whether we’re walking in the countryside, enjoying the Welsh coastline, or simply sharing good company with friends.

Small Choices, Big Impact

Plant Power Day isn’t about strict rules or asking everyone to suddenly become vegan. Instead, it encourages people to let plants take centre stage, even if it’s just for a day.

Simple swaps can make a surprising difference:

  • Choosing oat or almond milk instead of dairy in your morning tea

  • Swapping a burger for a grilled vegetable or bean alternative

  • Enjoying fruit or sorbet rather than traditional ice cream

  • Adding more colourful vegetables to your plate

These choices can benefit our health while also being kinder to the environment — something that resonates deeply with naturist values of respect for the natural world.

A Philosophy of Balance

Naturism promotes body positivity, wellbeing, and authenticity. In many ways, a plant-forward approach to food complements this philosophy perfectly. It encourages mindfulness about what we consume and reminds us that the simplest foods often come directly from the earth itself.

Just as naturism invites us to accept our bodies as they are, Plant Power Day invites us to appreciate the natural abundance that grows around us.

A Natural Invitation

Here in Wales, where landscapes of mountains, forests, and coastline inspire us daily, Plant Power Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the connection between nature, nourishment, and wellbeing.

Whether you try a new plant-based recipe, enjoy a colourful vegetable-packed meal, or simply pause to appreciate the natural world around you, today is about embracing a lifestyle that feels more connected and conscious.

Because sometimes the most powerful changes start with the simplest idea:

Live naturally. Eat naturally. Feel naturally good.
