The Wait Is Over: Welcome to Summer Camp 2026

There is something special about arriving the night before.

Long before the first cars appear at the gate. Long before the laughter echoes across the fields. Long before the campfire is lit or the first mug of tea is poured, Summer Camp quietly begins for the volunteers who arrive early.

Last night was exactly that.

As the sun dipped behind the Welsh hills and painted the sky with gold and blue, we found ourselves doing what so many of us love most. Not rushing. Not clock watching. Simply enjoying good company, fresh air and the peaceful rhythm of the countryside.

There was plenty to do, of course. Tents to pitch. Equipment to unload. Final plans to check. The little jobs that nobody notices but that help everything run smoothly once everyone starts arriving. Yet somehow, those jobs never feel like work when they’re shared with friends.

There were plenty of laughs too.

Somebody was already planning the first campfire conversation. Somebody else was making sure the tea supplies were exactly where they should be. Another was simply enjoying the evening sunshine with the biggest grin imaginable. Within minutes it felt less like organising an event and more like coming home.

That really is what Summer Camp has become.

It isn’t about creating the perfect programme, even though we’ve packed six days full of activities. It isn’t about having the biggest campsite or the fanciest facilities.

It’s about people.

People arriving as strangers and leaving as friends.

People finding a place where nobody has to pretend to be someone they’re not.

People discovering that the greatest luxury in modern life might simply be sitting in a field, watching the sunset, chatting with people who accept you exactly as you are.

Today, from 1:00 pm, those first arrivals begin.

Cars will roll through the gates. Tents will appear across the field. Familiar faces will reunite, and brand-new friendships will begin before the first evening is over.

By tonight, what was a quiet campsite yesterday will become a thriving little community.

We’ll raise a glass at our Cheese & Wine Welcome, enjoy live music from Busker Dave, and if tradition has anything to say about it, someone will still be chatting around the campfire long after the stars have taken over the Welsh sky.
