Visiting friends

Today I’m hanging out with Adam and Tanya.

We have a plan.

Well, I say plan.

We’re going to disappear into the woods for the day, take some food, wander about, drink coffee and generally enjoy having nowhere particularly important to be.

There may also be a dip.

May.

Because it’s September in Wales and “it looks quite warm” is a sentence that has betrayed me before.

I’m taking a towel anyway.

That’s optimism.

Or poor decision-making with accessories.

I quite like days like this though. Nothing booked. Nobody needs entertaining. We’re not racing from one thing to another. Just three friends, a picnic, some woodland and several hours in which we’ll undoubtedly put the world to rights despite none of us being remotely qualified to do so.

And because it’s Adam and Tanya, I suspect there’ll be approximately seventeen different conversations happening at once.

We’ll start discussing one thing, somebody will remember something completely unrelated, I’ll wander off mentally halfway through, then twenty minutes later announce:

“WAIT. I’ve remembered what I was saying.”

Nobody will remember what I was saying.

Including me.

Perfect.

The nice thing about heading somewhere quiet is that naturism doesn’t need organising either. If it’s private, appropriate and warm enough, clothes can come off, feet can go in the water and that’s simply how we are.

Although the water and I will be negotiating separately.

Adam might say it’s fine.

Tanya might say it’s fine.

Neither of these people are my toes.

My toes will make the final decision.

So that’s Monday.

Eira. Tanya. Adam.

Woods. Picnic. Coffee. Possibly a dip.

And absolutely no pressure to make the day anything more than a nice day with friends.

Actually, that sounds pretty bloody perfect.

When did you last grab a couple of friends, take some food and simply disappear somewhere lovely for the day?
