Have you ever looked at a bicycle and thought:
“You know what this needs? Less clothing.”
If so, you’re not alone.
Every year, thousands of people around the world climb onto their bikes, shed as much (or as little) clothing as they feel comfortable with, and take part in one of the most unusual, joyful and meaningful public events on the calendar: the World Naked Bike Ride.
And this year, Naturism Wales will once again be encouraging members and friends to join us in Manchester and be part of something genuinely special.

So, What Exactly Is the World Naked Bike Ride?
At first glance, it looks like a giant moving party.
There are colourful bicycles, body paint, smiles, laughter and plenty of people wondering whether they’ve accidentally walked into the world’s most relaxed fancy-dress event.
But beneath the fun is a serious message.
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) began in the early 2000s as a peaceful protest highlighting four key issues:
The vulnerability of cyclists on our roads.
Society’s dependence on fossil fuels.
The environmental impact of car culture.
Positive body image and body freedom.
Today, rides take place in cities across the world, with participants using the simple but powerful message that cyclists are exposed and vulnerable every day, whether clothed or not. The rides also celebrate ordinary bodies and challenge unrealistic expectations about appearance. (wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org)

It’s Not About Being Naked
This is often the biggest surprise for first-time riders.
Yes, some participants ride completely nude.
Others wear shorts, swimwear, costumes, body paint, capes, superhero outfits or anything in between.
The unofficial dress code is simple:
“As bare as you dare.”
Nobody is judging anyone else’s level of undress. The atmosphere is friendly, supportive and remarkably normal. In fact, many first-timers quickly discover that after five minutes, nobody is really thinking about nudity at all. They’re too busy laughing, chatting and enjoying the ride. Why Naturism Wales Supports WNBR
Because the ride reflects many of the values we talk about every day.
Acceptance.
Authenticity.
Environmental responsibility.
Respect for ourselves and others.
The World Naked Bike Ride reminds us that every body belongs, every person matters and that positive social change doesn’t always have to be serious and gloomy. Sometimes it arrives on two wheels covered in body paint.

Whatever your reason, you’ll find yourself among a wonderfully diverse group of people united by positivity, freedom and a desire to make a statement in the most memorable way possible.

Join Us
Naturism Wales believes that visibility matters.
The more ordinary people who stand up—or pedal—for body acceptance, environmental responsibility and safer roads, the stronger those messages become.
So if you’ve ever been curious about the World Naked Bike Ride, perhaps 2026 is your year.
Dust off the bike.
Charge the lights.
Find the body paint.
And join us in Manchester for one of the most uplifting, entertaining and surprisingly inspiring events of the summer.
After all, life’s too short to spend every bike ride fully dressed.
