Today is International Hug Your Cat Day, a celebration dedicated to one of life's simplest pleasures: showing a little extra love to our feline companions.

Of course, cat owners will tell you that every day is Hug Your Cat Day. Whether they're curled up in a sunny spot, supervising your gardening efforts, stealing your favourite chair, or demanding attention precisely when you're busy, cats have a unique way of becoming part of our lives and our families. But as any experienced cat servant knows, there's an important rule: hugs happen on the cat's terms!

Cats are wonderful teachers when it comes to understanding personal boundaries. Some cats adore cuddles. Others prefer a respectful head scratch. A few will happily sit beside you while making it very clear that physical contact is not currently on the agenda.

In many ways, the lessons our feline friends teach us align beautifully with the values that underpin naturism.
