National Sunscreen Day: Bare Skin, Bright Sunshine & Smart Naturism

Today is National Sunscreen Day, and for all of us enjoying the freedom of naturism across Wales and beyond, it’s the perfect reminder that sunshine and skin care go hand in hand.

There’s nothing quite like that feeling of warm sunshine on your skin, fresh air across the countryside, and the relaxing freedom that naturism brings. Whether you’re enjoying a peaceful garden afternoon, heading to a beach, relaxing poolside, or sharing laughter at a social gathering, the sun can make every naturist experience feel even more magical.

But while we celebrate the sunshine, we also need to respect it.

Loving the Sun Responsibly

Naturism encourages us to reconnect with our bodies in a positive and natural way — and that includes looking after our skin properly too. Sunburn isn’t just uncomfortable; repeated UV damage can contribute to premature ageing and increase the risk of skin cancer.

The reality is simple: when you’re wearing less, you need to protect more.

That means:

• Applying a high-factor sunscreen regularly

• Covering easy-to-miss areas

• Staying hydrated

• Taking breaks in the shade

• Avoiding overexposure during peak afternoon heat

And yes… some areas definitely see the sun less often than others, so they need extra care!
