Today is World Oceans Day, a chance to celebrate the seas, coastlines, and waterways that connect us all. Here in Wales, we are fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in the world.
From sweeping sandy beaches to rugged cliffs and hidden coves, the sea has a way of reminding us what truly matters.
The ocean does not care who we are, where we come from, what we do for a living, how old we are, or what labels society places upon us. Standing beside the sea, we are simply human beings sharing the same planet, breathing the same fresh air, and appreciating the same natural beauty.

Perhaps that is one reason why so many naturists feel such a strong connection to the coast. The sea encourages authenticity. It invites us to leave behind the pressures, expectations, and distractions of everyday life and simply be ourselves.
But World Oceans Day is about more than appreciating beautiful places. It is about recognising our responsibility to care for them.
Every piece of litter removed from a beach, every path respected, and every effort made to protect our environment helps preserve these special places for future generations to enjoy.

For many members of the Naturism Wales community, some of our happiest memories have been created by the sea. Days spent laughing with friends, sharing picnics, enjoying a walk along the shoreline, or simply sitting quietly listening to the waves. These moments remind us that friendship and belonging are among life’s greatest treasures.
Naturism is often described as freedom, but perhaps it is also friendship. The friendships formed through our community are built on acceptance, respect, kindness, and authenticity. When we gather together, we discover that we have far more in common than anything that might divide us.

Like the ocean itself, community is something powerful. Individual drops of water may seem insignificant, but together they create something vast and extraordinary. The same is true of people. When individuals come together with kindness, respect, and a shared sense of belonging, they create a community capable of achieving remarkable things.
As we celebrate World Oceans Day, let us also celebrate the friendships that enrich our lives, the communities that support us, and the natural world that brings us together.
Whether you are walking along a beach, enjoying time with friends, or simply reflecting on the beauty of nature, today is a reminder that every body belongs.
The sea welcomes us all. Nature welcomes us all. And in a community built on respect, acceptance, and friendship, every body belongs there too.
