Naturism and Me: Finding Myself, and Finding a Community

With my children now grown and, after sadly losing my wife, life became very different. For the first time in many years, I found myself asking what came next for me.
I began exploring mindfulness and looking for ways to reconnect with myself. Somewhere along that journey I discovered Naturism Wales. I’ll admit that, as a single man, I assumed joining a naturist community would be difficult.
I had heard so much about single men struggling to find acceptance within naturism in Britain that I genuinely wondered whether there would be a place for me.
What I found was completely different.
I found people who welcomed me for who I am. I found friendship, equality and a genuine sense of belonging. There is a living spirit within this community that is difficult to put into words until you experience it yourself. Nobody needed me to be part of a couple or fit somebody else’s idea of what a naturist should look like. I could simply be me.
Naturism has become part of that wider journey of mindfulness and self-discovery. After a period of enormous change in my life, Naturism Wales has introduced me to wonderful people and reminded me that new friendships, new experiences and even a new sense of purpose can appear when you least expect them.
It really has changed my life.
