Women in Naturism: My Story

For a long time, I think I spent far too much energy worrying about how I was supposed to look, how I was supposed to behave, and whether other people approved of me.
Naturism changed that.
Finding naturism in Wales gave me something I didn’t realise I was missing: permission to simply be myself. Not the edited version. Not the version shaped around somebody else’s expectations. Just me.
Being part of a naturist community helped me understand two things that now feel incredibly important: it’s OK to be me, and my body, my rules.
That doesn’t mean confidence arrived overnight. It means I slowly stopped seeing my body as something that needed to be judged, hidden, compared or apologised for. Around ordinary people with ordinary bodies, I began to understand that there was never anything wrong with mine in the first place.
Naturism Wales helped create that space for me. It wasn’t about being looked at. It was about finally feeling free from being looked at through somebody else’s standards.
There is something powerful about standing exactly as you are and realising you do not need permission to exist comfortably in your own skin.
For me, that is what Proud to Be Me means.
It means owning my body, my choices and my identity.
It means being able to say, without embarrassment:
This is me! I’m comfortable with who I am! And I’m proud to be me!
