Spain, Sunshine and No Swimsuit Required: Vera Playa on a Budget

There are two phrases guaranteed to get my attention: “naturist holiday” and “actually affordable.”

Put the two together, add Spanish sunshine and a beach, and suddenly I’m checking how much annual leave I’ve got left.

Today’s little bit of travel temptation takes us to Vera Playa in Almería, southern Spain, and this one is particularly interesting because Vera isn’t merely somewhere that tolerates naturism on one little corner of beach. It has one of Europe’s best-established naturist communities, with naturist accommodation sitting right alongside a long sandy beach where living without clothes is simply part of the place. And I’ve found somewhere that doesn’t require selling a kidney to stay there.

The place: Natsun, Vera Playa

Natsun offers naturist apartments at Vera Playa, and its published 2026 prices become particularly attractive once we get beyond the main summer rush.

From 16 September to 1 November 2026, a Type A apartment costs €57.50 per night for a stay of 3–13 nights. Stay for 14–27 nights and that drops to €50 per night, while a stay of 28 nights or longer comes down to just €40 per night. VAT, bed linen and towels are included, although beach towels aren’t. There is a three-night minimum stay and reservations require a 10% advance payment. (Vera Playa)

So let’s do my favourite bit.

Seven nights: €402.50 for the apartment.

That is the accommodation price, not per person. If two people share, you’re looking at €201.25 each for an entire week before travel.

For a naturist holiday in Spain, that’s rather good.

Getting there without murdering the budget

Almería Airport is the obvious gateway, and there are direct flights from Manchester.

Current Ryanair pricing shows Manchester–Almería fares in September from around £25.99 each way, with individual September dates appearing around that level. Fares are dynamic, of course, and luggage, seat selection and other extras can quickly turn a suspiciously cheap flight into something rather less suspicious. (Ryanair)

So I’m deliberately not pretending I’ve found a complete £250 package holiday when I haven’t. Transfers, return-flight availability for your chosen dates, baggage, food and spending money all need adding.

But the bones of a genuinely cheap naturist escape are definitely there.

Why Vera appeals to me

As a woman travelling alone, I don’t just look at the pool photographs and decide somewhere is lovely.

I want to know what happens when I step outside the gate.

Can I walk? Can I explore? Is naturism actually part of the culture of the destination, or am I confined to one fenced-off sunbathing area before having to put everything back on to buy a bottle of water?

That’s where Vera interests me.

Vera Playa has developed around an established naturist community rather than naturism being an afterthought. There are apartments, restaurants and other facilities around the beach area, making it much better suited to actually living naturism for a week rather than simply visiting a clothing-optional beach for an afternoon. And September might be my favourite time to do it.

The frantic peak of August has passed, accommodation prices have started falling, but you’re still escaping Wales at precisely the point when our weather begins reminding us that horizontal rain is apparently a national cultural asset.
