Yesterday we celebrated the simple joy of cycling together through the beautiful Welsh countryside. This evening our own Naturism Wales community will once again take to two wheels as members gather at 5:30pm for a gentle social cycle through one of Denbighshire’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

For us, it isn’t about speed, competition or how far we ride. It’s about friendship. Fresh air. Laughter. Sharing an experience with people who accept one another exactly as they are.

But this weekend also connects us to something much bigger.

Tomorrow, Cardiff hosts one of the UK’s World Naked Bike Rides, joining cities across the globe that are all carrying the same message.

More Than Just a Bike Ride

The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is a peaceful, positive movement that began over twenty years ago and now takes place in cities across Europe, North America, Australia and beyond.

Although every ride has its own personality, they all share common aims:

  • Promoting cycling as an environmentally friendly form of transport.

  • Highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists on our roads.

  • Encouraging positive body acceptance.

  • Challenging unnecessary shame surrounding the human body.

  • Celebrating freedom, diversity and inclusion.

Participants are encouraged to ride “as bare as they dare”, meaning there is no expectation that everyone must be fully naked. Some wear body paint, costumes, shorts or simply decorate themselves creatively. Everyone participates at a level they feel comfortable with.

The atmosphere is welcoming, respectful and remarkably good natured.

For many, their first World Naked Bike Ride becomes an unforgettable experience—not because of what they weren’t wearing, but because of how accepted they felt.

Why It Matters

Modern life can sometimes leave us disconnected from nature, from each other and even from ourselves.

Events like these gently challenge many of the pressures society places upon appearance, perfection and judgement.

When hundreds or even thousands of ordinary people ride together, something remarkable happens.

People stop comparing.

They stop worrying.

They start smiling.

Differences become unimportant because everyone is sharing exactly the same experience.

It becomes less about bodies and much more about humanity.

That is something worth celebrating.

Cardiff Rides Tomorrow

If you’ve ever wondered what a World Naked Bike Ride is really like, tomorrow offers the perfect opportunity to find out.

The Cardiff ride welcomes newcomers, experienced riders and the simply curious alike.

Gathering begins from 12:30pm, giving everyone time to meet, prepare their bikes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere before setting off.

The ride itself begins at 1:30pm, travelling through Cardiff with a positive message of cycling, body confidence and environmental awareness.

Whether you choose to ride, watch or simply come along to say hello, you’ll discover a community that is welcoming, respectful and full of smiles.

A Weekend of Freedom

This evening, our Naturism Wales members will quietly enjoy the stunning scenery of Denbighshire.

Tomorrow, riders in Cardiff will become part of a worldwide movement seen in cities across the globe.

Different rides.

Different settings.

One shared message.

That our bodies are nothing to be ashamed of.

That cycling is good for people and good for our planet.

That kindness and acceptance travel much further than judgement ever will.

Perhaps this weekend is the perfect time to discover what that feels like for yourself.

We hope to see you on two wheels.
