Discovering Wales, One Beach at a Time

There is something undeniably magical about the Welsh coastline.

From the towering cliffs of Pembrokeshire to the sweeping sands of Cardigan Bay, from the rugged beauty of North Wales to the quiet coves hidden along Ceredigion’s shoreline, our coastline offers some of the most breathtaking scenery anywhere in Britain.

For many naturists, the beach is far more than somewhere to remove clothing. It is a place to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the natural world. Feeling the sea breeze against your skin, the warmth of the sun, the sound of waves rolling gently onto the shore and the sand beneath your feet reminds us that freedom is often found in life’s simplest moments.

Wales is blessed with hundreds of miles of spectacular coastline, and while there are a handful of beaches that have become particularly well known within the naturist community, the reality is much simpler.

Any beach can be enjoyed by naturists provided it is done respectfully, responsibly and with consideration for others.

Naturism has never been about confrontation. Quite the opposite.

Our advice has always been to seek out quieter stretches of coastline where everyone can enjoy the peace that Wales has to offer.

Choosing less populated areas not only allows naturists to relax more comfortably but also helps avoid unnecessary misunderstandings with people who may not be familiar with naturism. It creates a positive experience for everyone.

A cover-up should always be carried with you. While many encounters with other beach users are friendly or simply pass without comment, there may occasionally be situations where putting something on briefly is the courteous thing to do. Kindness and respect cost nothing, and they reflect the values of our community.

Above all, think about your own safety. If exploring quieter beaches or hidden coves, let somebody know where you are going, take plenty of drinking water, carry a fully charged mobile phone, consider a small first aid kit and always be aware of tides, changing weather conditions and coastal terrain. Wales’ coastline is stunning, but it deserves respect.

Among Wales’ most recognised naturist-friendly locations is Morfa Dyffryn, whose vast golden sands and expansive dunes have welcomed naturists for many years. Its size allows visitors to enjoy the landscape peacefully while appreciating one of the country’s finest coastal environments.

Further south, Cei Bach, near New Quay, offers a very different experience. Nestled between dramatic cliffs and surrounded by unspoilt countryside, this secluded cove has become a favourite for many who appreciate a quieter and more intimate connection with nature. It is a place where the rhythm of the sea seems to slow everything down.

In North Wales, Barkby Beach, near Prestatyn, continues to attract naturists looking for space, tranquillity and beautiful coastal views. Like so many Welsh beaches, it rewards those willing to take a little time to explore beyond the busiest tourist areas.

Yet these are only three examples.

Every corner of Wales offers opportunities to discover somewhere special. Tiny coves, long stretches of sand, rocky shorelines and peaceful estuaries all tell their own story. Some become favourite places that people return to year after year, while others are stumbled upon during an afternoon walk and remembered forever.

As naturists, we often speak about freedom, but freedom also comes with responsibility.

We have the privilege of enjoying some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. That means leaving no litter, respecting wildlife, protecting fragile dunes and coastal habitats, parking responsibly and leaving every place exactly as we found it—or even better.

The Welsh coastline belongs to all of us.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to a beach that already feels like an old friend, take a moment to appreciate what makes Wales so special. Watch the seabirds soaring overhead, listen to the waves breaking against the shore, breathe in the salt air and simply enjoy being present.

Naturism isn’t about escaping life.

It’s about reconnecting with it.

So this summer, take the scenic route. Explore somewhere new. Support local communities, enjoy a coffee in a seaside village, walk a coastal path, discover a hidden cove and experience the incredible beauty that Wales has to offer.

Because sometimes the greatest journeys aren’t measured in miles…

They’re measured in moments.
